The Definition of Fine Art by Kathleen Barber
Welcome to my new fine art website. It has been a work in progress for a couple of years now.
I'm Kathleen, the maker of all the images on my site. I grew up on Oregon's northern coast and have always been drawn to the outdoors. For fifteen years, I was a flower farmer and grew and sold my flowers. I also spent time designing flowers for weddings and special occasions. Today I still have an abundance of flowers I produce to photograph and use in my artwork.
As we evolve, so does the art world. It is constantly changing with new techniques. I use modern methods to hand paint every stroke of the mixed media portrait. Utilizing a camera is one of the tools I use to capture a reference image that can be transformed into a fully custom museum-quality piece of artwork. I print and, in some cases, mat and frame your work. I have spent over two years developing the skills to offer my clients something very different and beautiful.
Definition of Fine Art.
Fine Art is where the photographer is the artist. The finished product is intended for a wall and to be considered decor. It takes the artist a high level of skill to take a concept or idea to the next level.
My studio is in Warrenton, Oregon, where I draw inspiration. I look forward to having you follow my journey as an artist. Please feel free to message me with any questions.
